WelcomeCome on inThanks for stopping byHi! I’m Andy 😊
A few years ago I realised that being a cog in the Civil Service machinery just wasn’t what I wanted to do any more. I left to pursue the much more satisfying vocation of massage therapy and trained at the wonderful Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork in Clifton.
I graduated from BCMB in 2025 as an MTI certified Level 4 Holistic Massage therapist and am currently extending my already excellent knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and massage techniques with an MTI Level 5 Remedial and Sports Massage diploma.
My BCMB training has allowed me a deep understanding of how massage can be used to help people heal, mentally and physically.
Massage is an amazing win-win modality of physical therapy.
It is immensely satisfying when a client enters the treatment room feeling tense, stiff, hunched and leaves smiling, feeling looser, taller, and in less pain.
Massage is a beautiful gift

Don’t worry! Everyone has a first time and I will guide you through it on the day.
Before we start I will run through a quick consultation form with you to get an idea of what you’d like from the session and an understanding of how you normally use you body so I can give you the best possible massage. If you have any conditions or injuries that would inform the massage let me know during this initial chat.
When the consultation is done, I will ask you to undress to your level of comfort and lie on the massage table but underneath the drape. I will leave the room whilst you do this.
During the massage I will only undrape the area I am working on at the time and will communicate clearly what and how I’m going to massage. I’ll check in frequently to ensure you are warm and comfortable and that the depth of massage is good for you.
After the massage I will again leave the room whilst you dress, and then re-join you to discuss how you feel after the massage, and guide you to some stretches and exercises that might be useful.

Massage therapists use a thick warm sheet called a drape to cover you and keep you warm and comfortable during the massage. Draping and undraping is covering and uncovering only a small area of your body at a time, making sure you feel secure, safe and warm at all times. Sometimes pillows, bolsters and cushions may be used to make sure you are as comfortable as possible.
-
The massage will normally start with you lying face down on the table, underneath the drape, with your head resting in the hole of the face cradle.
If this is not a comfortable position for you, a side-lying position and/or additional pillow supports can be used.
For work on the front of the body I will ask you to turn over and move down the table a little until your head is on the main table, and will assist in holding the drape securely in place as you do this.
-
Most of the time you will undress to your underwear before getting onto the table and underneath the drape.
If you are wearing a bra then this should also be removed if you are receiving back and shoulder massage. Don’t worry if you aren’t comfortable with this, it can be left on and unclipped or remain clipped and I will work around it.
Necklaces and large earrings should be removed. If you have long hair, it would be great if it can be tied up out of the way.
I will always communicate clearly and ask consent before making any draping adjustments during the massage.

Massage can be beneficial to any area of the body but I do not massage genital areas or breasts.
Most other areas of the body can benefit from massage. Different areas of the body are connected via fascial and kinetic chains, and muscles work together in coordinated groups, so massage aimed at releasing tension or freeing up one specific muscle will often benefit from related tissues also receiving some attention.
Holistic massage can be used to support relaxation, rest and repair, respiratory conditions, digestive system, nervous system and auto-immune conditions. So if there’s something you think massage could help with, don’t be shy, just ask and I can tailor a treatment to suit your needs.

Massage shouldn’t be uncomfortable, and I will always aim to keep within the levels of depth and pressure that are therapeutic for you.
Muscles that experience pain, usually from massage that is either too deep or too fast, tend to tense up to protect themselves from damage. My massage approach is to keep to a slow attentive pace when working deeply. I will always check in with you if I sense that you are uncomfortable. I really value a collaborative and communicative approach to massage.
-
If you aren’t feeling well enough to enjoy the massage or have a contagious illness that you don’t want to spread around do talk to me and I’ll reschedule to a time you are feeling better.
I usually request that 24 hours notice be given for any other reason that you are unable to make your appointment.

I use unscented vegan massage wax made locally by Songbird. It is nut and palm oil free. If you have any specific allergies or would like to see the ingredient list, please ask.
